Bug Description

Once I activate Expo Compiz crashes immediately. This bug is very new and seems to have been introduced quite recently.

Could you please get a stack trace? For example, by running compiz under gdb or under valgrind?

I tried to get a backtrace with bt, but this sounds easier than it actually is.

When I run "gdb --args compiz --replace" and then execute this with "run" 1 out of 5 times gdb succeeds and replaces the running Compiz.
But once I trigger the crash by activating Expo everything just hangs and I am not able to get the backtrace.

Daniel, if you have instructions on how to best get a backtrace without crashing the debugger, I would be happy to follow those...

All I can tell you is that this bug is not older than 2, max 3 days - so it must have been introduced quite recently.

Try installing valgrind and just running:
    valgrind compiz .....

This bug is incomplete still. Please don't make other bugs duplicates of an incomplete bug.

Daniel, sorry.
I was not sure about it, because this bug report is older.

One information I can add here is that this bug also happens when unityshell is disabled, so Unity is probably not the culprit.

Its not incomplete, its happening for quite a few people and Sam is already aware of it

@MC, is your stacktrace similar to what I had in bug 1049596 ?

Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) wrote :

Depends what version of compiz mc-return is using. If it is pure compiz r3368 then this is different to bug 1049596, which is almost certainly due to ubuntu distro patches.

I'm using pure lp:compiz r3368 right now and can't reproduce this bug.

@Omer: Probably - where and how can I get to the stacktrace ?

@Daniel: I am attaching my CCSM configuration here, maybe it helps.
