The md5 checksum algorithm is too slow

Bug Description

The md5 algorithm used in wubi (metadl) is far slower than the one in http://www.fourmilab.ch/md5.
The difference is 1 to 2 orders of magnitude (10sec vs 5-10minutes).

Even if that is certainly non critical, it would almost halve the total installation time (excluding ISO download), providing a far better experience for the users. Hence it should be considered for point release.

Would be nice! I can update metadl so that it uses that md5 algorithm instead...

As it turns out it wasn't the algorithm itself too slow but the fact that the GUI was refreshed way to often. Hampus is on it.

Now the GUI updates have been optimized and the performance should be a lot better! Might be interesting to compare the performance of various md5 implementations too some day... Perhaps it will turnout to be sufficiently fast already. A small test showed that it was a lot faster than before (with Wine), at least.
