still no line wrap :-( I tried Dapper AMD64, all updates installed as of today (21.02.06) and Breezy386, all updates installed.

According to upstream that's a theme issue, Jeff could you try fixing that for dapper? They suggest using "rect" tag for that

reassigning to the ubuntu-artwork package

This should be reevaluated for Feisty and it's probably an easy fix.

Could someone please post a screenshot?

The problem lies in some hideous hard coded pixel forces in the GDM XML.

This is a screenshot of the German gdm. At the beginning of the string, there's "Benutzer" missing. At the end of the string, there's "eben" missing.

Martin: does it happen with the newest feisty-gdm-themes also?

I'll correct myself. It has to do with using the rect parameter in the stanza correctly.

kwwii -- perhaps you can have a look at the attachment and see the proper way to utilize rects to get the desired effect.

Bug still exists in 7.10 (Gutsy) / Gnome 2.20.

There are worse issues, I know, but another 100.000 new bugs have passed since I reported this bug, so I just wanted to bring your attention back to this issue ;-)

Maybe we could at least change the status now to "confirmed"? "New" does not seem appropriate anymore....

Giving easy steps to trigger the bug would make easier to get it confirmed, no duplicate has been filled and very few people commented on this bug, that doesn't seem to be a common user issue

The problem still exists, also in Hardy as of today.

Maybe it is not a bug, but it does make the login screen look unprofessional. You can not convice management to switch if this is the first visual impression a tester has, in my experience.

the line wrap issue seems to be solved now (Hardy Beta, Gutsy), thank you!

However, now the error message is going straight through the login field in the very latest GDM skin in Hardy beta, see attached pictures. Shall I open a new bug for this?

on Hardy, this issue is now fixed. Since I already upgraded all my machine to Hardy, I can not check if the issue is also fixed in Gutsy, let alone Feisty.
