Reply arrow buttons only work once

Bug Description

After I start Gwibber I can only hit the reply arrow on a list entry once. After having done that (an hitting cancel), clicking on any of the other reply arrows won't initiate the "answer" mode starting with "@somebody" in the input bar.
After quitting and restarting the whole app it'll work again, exactly once.

Version is 0.8 from the PPA for Intrepid.
Three accounts setup so far: Identica, Twitter, Facebook

The only reliable method of posting replies seems to be clicking the avatar/image to get the identi.ca/twitter profile page to open in my browser and click to reply there. Gwibber seems only useful for listing received dents/tweets. Posting is more efficient using gnome-do plugin, as sometimes Gwibber freezes on posting also.

Bug is exactly the same for me as above.

Allright, maybe the gnome-do plugin is a viable method, but it's not nearly as convenient, as just clicking on the reply button and having the answer been sent to the right subscriber via the matching account.
That is the other obvious usecase for Gwibber, besides aggregating messages. At least for me...

Sure - reply needs fixing. The other shortcut - clicking on the avatar - has mixed results also. With identi.ca contacts, the url opens a tab in firefox, and I can reply there. With Twitter contacts, the url is 'gwibber:user/USERNAME' and opens in a new Gwibber tab.

Gwibber needs to evolve to allow the reply button to give @USERNAME every time in the message bar (even if it's just to remind me, so I can type in Gnome-do) - also for all kinds of account, left clicking the avatar should open in a tab in gwibber, or in the browser, and Right clicking should give the full list of options.

The 'default' click should be settable in the Preferences (I like to get it opening in Firefox)

The reply button is necessary because the @reply name isn't listed next to the name (e.g. 'ben reply @ben2talk' something like that would be useful)

Thus Gwibber isn't giving enough information to function as a simple display either.

I hope this helps - I'm just trying to help in a positive way guys :)

Is this possibly due to bug#286971? For me the reply button works until I hit it on a facebook message at which point it stops working for all messages.

Hi Mike,

for me it's not. Reply also stops working when I do an actual reply via Identi.ca or twitter.
I've got one shot per session :-)

Could replicate this with facebook account, clicking reply (which isn't supported on facebook protocol) would then break Gwibber such that a restart was needed to make any other reply arrows function correctly.

Have effectively fixed this by only displaying reply arrows when the message protocol supports replying.

Changed in gwibber:
assignee: nobody → oldman
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Fix Released

for me it isn't fixed... version 1.0.2 ... only the first time of hitting reply works...

I had a similar issue with Gwibber. Where if I clicked reply and then decide not to reply. I would be unable to click reply again until I fully close Gwibber and restart it. After playing with the preferences I disabled "Append colon to username when replying" setting and I have not had any further issues with replying.
