@Martin Pitt, why does apport auto open a bug with the title "does not terminate at computer shutdown" ? Should it say "modem-manager does not terminate at computer shutdown" instead? I find the automatically selected title confusing.

I do not get an error message on reboot, but the subject describes exactly what I experience. After "sudo shutdown now" it hangs with a message about modemmanager and something like ...connection dbus..
Does not happen when shut down from gnome.
If you tell me what log file it is in, I will be able to post the exact message.

I too get no error message, but my computer do not turn off when shuting down.
It shows only an error message about modemmanager.

Very annoying bug. Have to turn off computer manually with power button.

Only started happening in last two weeks. Computer does not turn off. Now I got this apport message.

modemmanager (0.5.1.96+git201202081807.635fce1-0ubuntu3) precise; urgency=low

Gediminas; make sure you have the latest version of the package and file a separate bug report.

I got this "does not terminate at shutdown" apport message only once after reboot, and posted a version only to tell that this still happens.

I have uninstalled modemmanager package altogether, but the computer does not power down on Shutdown or Restart. So modemmanager possibly is not the cause of this issue.

As far as I'm concerned this is correctly fixed in Precise as long as modemmanager didn't crash during the session (in which cases there may be a race between upstart respawning it, and NM spawning it via DBus activation). Closing as Fix Released.
