Gmail applet time-out

after a recent update I have had the Gmail docket stop functioning, either stay checking mail indefinitely, or turn grey and have the tooltip "General Error"

The ATOM stream link in the debug output, manually opening the inbox from the context menu and the authorization in the settings all function properly , so I do not believe this is the same as bug #522020
