Bug Description

When I record using a mic plugged into the jack on the side I get weird feedback noises.. This did not happen in windows so I know it's not a hardware issue

Can you please test the latest drivers: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules and report back whether it fixes the problem or not?

I installed the 24 models.. i don't know if they were used because my uname
-r was the same.. and I still get feedback when recording
I think this is because of the fact I am using a headset and it doesnt mute
the onboard mic, and there is no option to choose between the two mics in
the setup.

no the bug was not addressed in this new alsa version.. I have not tried the
internal mic but this has not been an issue. he issue is wit a headset. When
I plug in and record from it I get feedback...

Looking at your codec, it doesn't seem like the internal mic is feedback-ing. A shot in the dark would be to try model=auto and see if that makes any difference. (add "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and reboot)

i've try auto and a couple other model's already and it still has the same
issues also this is not a hardware issue it worked fine in windows. I bought
a usb MIC *built into a webcam) but thought you guys should know..
