As long as it doesn't conflict regular key combinations people have, I think that's fine. However, combinations you listed for PoEdit do sound risky. Also, if it's something people can accidentally hit (i.e. Ctrl + Down can easily be pressed if you pressed Ctrl + C and then wanted to scroll down using the arrow key), we should do it in a very smart way. I.e. the first time someone uses it, we should show them a pop-up explaining important shortcuts on the page. Then, they should have an option to either dismiss it forever, or be reminded again the next time they use the shortcut. Well, "forever" can be relative: I think it'd be enough if it was tied to a browser session through a JS cookie.
