can't send rescan from scratch for root with u1sdtool

$ u1sdtool --rescan-
wont work, it will show the usage.
we need a way other than sending the dbus call by hand to do rescan from scratch on the root volume
if you need to do rescan from scratch on the root volume try this:
$ dbus-send --session --dest=
