It's really not nice to suspend a laptop that's locally idle when

This commit adds a blocking inhibitor that runs for the duration of
remote sessions.

smartcard: Don't listen for smartcard events if smartcard auth is disabled

Right now the only thing using gsd's smartcard support is gnome-shell
for unlock and login, and it only does those things if smartcard-auth
is enabled in gsettings.

As an optimization, don't bother talking to the hardware at all unless
smartcard authentication is enabled in gsettings.

Use the proper hint for setting images for notifications

The icon set via `notify_notification_new()` is used as app-icon in the
DBus request. Unfortunately libnotify doesn't document this behavior. It
didn't really matter since in GNOME Shell we used to display only one
icon. After introducing a header [1] for notification in GNOME Shell we
display
the app-icon and when set the image from the image hint[2].

Now meson returns 'custom' as the 'buildtype' when the user sets
'optimization' and 'debug' to a combination it does not know, making it
more likely to have none of 'debug' and 'release' in 'buildtype'.
Therefore, it should be better to use 'optimization' and 'debug' options
directly if we don't want an explicit option to control it.

rfkill-glib: Rework async CHANGE repeat logic

Currently we could end up sending to write events at the same time,
because e.g. the previous one has been cancelled but did not yet finish.

Rework the async logic, also changing the bluetooth repeat logic
slightly to repeat all "broken" change events for a certain period
(rather than just always reacting to the first change event).

When the module in charge of the keyboard backlight is rmmod-ed, upower
emits a new signal to communicate to gsd that we don't have backlight

In this case we do not want to calculate the new brightness.

media-keys: Do not suppress volume-change while playing

This effectively reverts commit 7d74327dc2 ("media-keys: Skip
volume-change feedback while playing"). The main problem is that we get
into our own way when the volume-change happens multiple times in quick
succession.

The feature is nice, but we need to improve it so that playback is only
supressed when a proper audio stream is playing rather than just system
sounds.

datetime: use malloc_trim() to release resources back to OS

We allocate a lot of memory while building the timezone database from
libgweather all to have that put into the GSlice allocation queues we'll
barely if ever touch again.

By forcing things to use malloc, we can use malloc_trim() on supported
GLibc systems to madvise() the kernel it can take the memory back.

With the previous patches and this, gsd-datetime drops from about 9MB down
to just under 3MB. We could probably go even further if we change
libgweather a bit, but this gets it small enough for me.

However, there are other processes (such as evolution-calendar-factory)
that would benefit from a more generic solution.

It's also very likely that we would want to just make gsd-datetime
activatable through external events so the process can go away entirely.

This stops us from crossing into another file system. The test simply
uses the file system tag, which means that e.g. bind mounts to the same
file system are not found.

The exception to this is trash:, in that case, set filesystem to NULL
and allow crossing over. This must be done as trash: is virtual and
files might be coming from various locations.

print-notifications: Allow ignoring of events for print jobs

Adds DBus interface for ignoring of events related to print jobs.
There is DBus method DoNotNotifyJob which takes job id
and ignored events as parameters. If a job with the id is processed
then the plugin checks whether the current event should be ignored
from the notification point of view.

The interface stores the ginored events as flags which values
are determined as "1 << value" where value comes from ipp_jstate_t
enum. Its values ranges from 3 to 9 so they fit into the 64 bits
of the uint64. This allow us to ignore more events at once
but this is not used yet.

We currently only lock the screen when suspend is disabled on the
session level. This is somewhat ironic, because in reality suspend
happens because of systemd-logind.

In the case where we suspend, it does not hurt to also explicitly lock
the screen. In the case that suspend is inhibited (through GNOME
Tweaks), this fixes issues where the session remains unlocked.

The rfkill code will cancel any running task when a new task comes in.
This makes sense in most cases, but the code would cancel the
cancellable from the outside scope which may be reused. This effectively
resulted in all changes to be cancelled immediately when this
compression happened once.

Fix the issue by creating a new cancellable and propagating the
cancelled state rather then setting it on the passed in cancellable.

media-keys: Wait forever for GrabAccelerators() to succeed

On slower machines (esp. with tracker and/or dropbox starting on login)
this may take more than the usual timeout of ~25 seconds.

We cannot use the existing retry loop here – in this bug, the first call
actually *succeeds* from gnome-shell's side, even if gsd-mediakeys gives
up on waiting for the reply.

So if we called GrabAccelerators again, we would receive no accel IDs
(because all keys are duplicates), and gnome-shell would keep sending
AcceleratorActivated signals with accel IDs that the 1st call has
established – resulting in exactly the same "Could not find accelerator
for accel id" as we're trying to fix.

smartcard: manually emit insertion event at startup

At the moment we rely on getting an insertion event for any already
inserted smartcards at startup time, from NSS. That apparently doesn't
happen for all drivers, though.

This commit changes things up a bit so that we do the insertion event
ourselves, and additionally add some guard code to prevent spurious
insertion events from being emitted.

media-keys: Fix shutdown dialog delay when using kbd shortcut

After pressing the Ctrl+Alt+Del shortcut, the shutdown dialog doesn't
appear on screen for a couple of seconds.

The media-keys daemon calls the 'Shutdown' method synchronously. After that
gnome-session calls the daemon with 'QueryEndSession'. The daemon cannot
reply as it's blocked waiting for the reply to the Shutdown method.

Sending the message asynchronously fixes that delay.

common: Migrate input settings to gsettings-desktop-schemas keys

The deprecated keys are kept in isolated ".deprecated" suffixed schemas.
On plugin startup, the settings-daemon paths are opened with these legacy
schemas, and all user-modified keys are dumped to the new location and
reset.

This ensures the transition just happens once per-key, and ensures the
dconf database is left clean.

xrandr: adapt to the new model for display configuration

Stop handling monitors.xml and the initial modeset for the session,
as well as monitor hotplug and lid switches. All that is implemented
in mutter now.
What is left in the xrandr plugin is Fn-F7 (for lack of a better
place) and Rotate. Both will go in mutter/gnome-shell at some point.

[wip] Port to gnome-session's SessionIsActive property

Rather than maintaining the systemd code here, monitor gnome-session's
SessionIsActive property. This allows us to drop the compile-time
dependency on systemd.

The power plugin is declared dependent on systemd at runtime, but the
rest of the code should operate in more "basic functionality" mode.

keyboard: Always add a latin and a UI language XKB layouts

Toolkits need to know about both a latin layout to handle
accelerators which are usually defined like Ctrl+C and a
layout with the symbols for the language used in UI strings
to handle mnemonics like Alt+Ф, so we try to find and add
them in XKB group slots after the layout which the user
actually intends to type with.

Don't use the Stored/custom configuration type in the XF86Display cycle

Don't use the Stored/custom configuration type in the XF86Display cycle

We just cycle between the stock configurations. There is no way for the user
to know what is actually stored on disk, so we try to be dumb-but-predictable
rather than not-always-really-smart.
